Out of 70 other campus organizations, Southwestern's Office of Student Life honored BEE-Co with the 2025 Student Organization of the Year.
BEE-Co boasts 35 beekeepers, 75 general members, and a 5 member executive team, making it one of the largest and most active organizations on campus.

Xerces Society, 2019, 2023, & 2024
The initial certification of Southwestern University as a Bee Campus USA institution was accomplished through a 2019 Environmental Studies capstone research project. After a short hiatus, BEE-Co revitalized and re-certified SU as a Bee Campus due to the habitats created, service-learning projects created and pollinator education events hosted by our organization.

TxN Conservation Certification
Texan by Nature, 2024
BEE-Co earned its stripes as a Texan by Nature conservation project in 2024. TxN recognizes notable initiatives across Texas that utilize unique conservation strategies on natural resources, involve local community members, and report on their economic and social impact metrics.

Monarch Watch, 2023
One of the habitats created alongside BEE-Co was a butterfly garden in the SU Community Garden. Through another S.A.F.E. grant, Layla Hoffen SU '26 built out and certified this bug abode through Monarch Watch, and has since raised hundreds of various caterpillar species.
